Nomoles & Peter Waddington
Everyone raves about a resturant/pub called "Nomales" where all the Koi enthusiasts hang out after a hard day of koi hunting.
Well, after several dissapointing meals in other establishments, we set out one night determined to find it. Which we did,
it was only about 4 blocks away from the hotel.
We had heard that the place was usually reserved seating only and that we might not be able to come in. When we went inside
the place was pretty packed with some British koi keepers, and wouldnt you know it, one of them was Peter Waddington. We
got waved to come in by the owner, and sat at some stools at the bar. Sitting next to us was Matt from Sugarloaf koi.
He introduced us to Peter Waddington, and the rest of his group. The rest of the night was spent listening to Alan Coogan playing
the guitar and signing folk songs. Who knew Peter Waddington also had a great singing voice.
The service and food at Nomoles was excellent. You ordered everything ala carte, rice, chicken, beef strips. Since I dont
drink alchol, I ordered Coke, which came in a liter bottle. Well, obviously I couldnt finish that by the end of the night.
To my surprize, when I came in the next night, they had my left over Coke waiting for me, no charge. Try and find service
like that in the USA. Amazing. The owner was very busy, but I quickly snapped this picture of him, the last night we ate
there. To my surprize, he came running out of the resturant as we were leaving and thanked us and said to come back again
next year, and got another picture of Shane and I in front of his sign. Good advertizing. Japanese are smart people.
